Jonathan was born and raised in Lloydminster. Jonathan obtained his Bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge in 2011. After completing his degree, Jonathan and his wife returned to Lloydminster where he began working in a Public Practice accounting firm. Jonathan then enrolled in the Chartered Accountant School of Business in 2011 and successfully wrote the Uniform Final Examination in September 2013. He received his Chartered Accountant designation in January 2015. Jonathan then spent the following 5 ½ years working in industry as controller for a Lloydminster based engineering firm that served primarily oil and gas, construction and municipal industries. He returned to public practice in 2020 and joined the firm Gervais Torresan CPA in July 2021.
Using his skill-set to provide service to the community is the main driver for Jonathan’s return to public practice. Seeing individuals and business find success and helping them navigate complicated financial transactions and tax systems is his passion.
Jonathan has also channeled that passion to serve the community in his role as an elected official for the City of Lloydminster, where he is serving his second term as City Councilor. In this role he has served on many boards and committees, including the Lloydminster Public Library Board, several inter-municipal planning boards, annexation negotiations, Community Futures and Facilities Corporation Board (dissolved). Jonathan has served the community in other ways as well by helping in the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program and assisting the Lloydminster Kinsmen Club with their annual Christmas Tree sale. He also serves personally as a board member for the Lloydminster and District Health Advisory Committee.
When Jonathan isn’t in the office or serving his community he can be found chasing his 3 children around. He enjoys spending time with family, summer weekends at Brightsand Lake, and watching NFL football or classic movies.
